NAPERVILLE - The Carthage men's track & field team traveled to North Central for the opening day of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday. Throws led the way placing three individuals in scoring position, including an individual champion in the javelin throw.

SPRINTS

Dylan Parker qualified for the finals in the 400m. Parker had the fourth fastest time of the day with a time of 49.30 seconds.

Parker also qualified for the finals in the 200m with the third fastest time of the day, finishing in 21.96 seconds. 

DISTANCE

Chase Upmann qualified for the finals in the 800m with a time of 1:55.11, good enough for the second fastest time of the day.

Micah Anderson placed sixth in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:26.26.* Anderson scored three points for the Firebirds in the event.

Jacob Curulewski placed second in the 10,000m run with a time of 30:33.46.* Curulewski tallied eight points for the Carthage team score.

JUMPS

Kedrick Johnson III placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.83m. Johnson III scored five team points.

THROWS

Jacob Brost won the javelin throw with a personal best mark of 59.62m.* He earned 10 points for the Firebirds.

Lucas Leal placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 54.87m.* Brost placed sixth in the event with a mark of 52.17m.* The duo combined for 11 team points in the event.

*Performance earned All-CCIW honors



Men's track & field is back in action on Saturday, May 3 as the team looks to continue their momentum at the final day of the CCIW Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Action begins with the continuation of the decathlon at 9:30 a.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
