NAPERVILLE — The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its 2025 Men's Lacrosse All-CCIW selections on Monday, with seven Carthage College student-athletes earning recognition.
Three Firebirds received First Team honors:
Andrew Johnson,
Sam Wallace, and
Ben Krok.
Johnson, who surpassed 300 career points this season, ranks fourth in the conference in goals per game (2.53), second in assists (3.07), and second in overall points (5.60). He is just the third player in CCIW history to eclipse 300 career points.
Wallace, last week's CCIW Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week, finished second in caused turnovers per game (2.20) and collected 63 ground balls with three goals. He posted a season-high five caused turnovers against North Central (Ill.) on April 19.
Krok rounded out the First Team trio after ranking fourth in the league in assists per game (1.93) and fifth in points per game (3.87). He tallied a season-best four goals against Carroll (Wis.) on April 18 and recorded four assists against Calvin on March 1.
Second-team selections for Carthage included
Josh Flores,
Andrew Frey, and
Chad Kohlmann.
Flores, who played in 15 games, ranked seventh in the conference in caused turnovers per game (1.67). He notched a season-high five caused turnovers and six ground balls in a March 1 matchup against Calvin.
Frey was a consistent offensive contributor, ranking fifth in goals per game (2.50), third in shots (9.43), and seventh in points (3.07). He recorded a season-high five goals against Hendrix on Feb. 1 and six points against Edgewood on Feb. 26.
Kohlmann earned CCIW Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week honors on Feb. 18 and was selected to the USILA Division III Team of the Week. He finished second in ground balls per game (7.14) and sixth in faceoff win percentage (.614).
Alec Gern was named Carthage's recipient of the conference's RESPECT Award, which honors student-athletes who demonstrate leadership, character, and inclusivity on and off the field. Gern finished the regular season with 50 goals, 16 assists, and 66 points, surpassing 250 career points. He ranked third in the CCIW in goals per game (3.33), fourth in points (4.40), ninth in assists (1.07), and seventh in shots (7.87).
Carthage enters the CCIW Men's Lacrosse Championship as the No. 3 seed and will travel to face No. 2 seed Elmhurst on Wednesday, April 30. Opening faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
