KENOSHA - The Carthage men's track & field team hosted the Firebird Finale at the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center on Friday afternoon. It was a special day as the Firebirds celebrated their seniors with a Senior Day recognition ceremony before the meet began. Athletes recognized included

SPRINTS
Zavadoski placed third in the 400 meter with a season best time of 52.24 seconds.Â
Two Firebirds placed in the top eight of the 200 meter with Christopher Seals finishing third with a time of 23.58 and Schalk placing sixth in a time of 23.81.Â
DISTANCE
The Firebirds placed six individuals in the top eight of the Mile run with four student-athletes registering personal best performances. Micah Anderson led the way with a second place finish in 4:23.49 followed by Michael Herres who ran a personal best time of 4:26.02. Michael Barber closed out his senior indoor campaign with a personal best time of 4:28.02 followed by LJ Higgs in fifth with a personal best time of 4:29.92. Trevor Swanson placed sixth in a time of 4:30.25, while Derek Garmire placed eighth with a personal best time of 4:33.13.
Four Firebirds posted personal best times in the 3,000 meter run. Harlan Matson led the way, winning with a time of 8:54.27. Ryan Ciezczak placed fourth in a time of 9:44.78 followed by Angus McClellan in fifth in a time of 9:59.42. Karel Rodriguez placed sixth with a time of 10:01.52. Krogh placed seventh at 10:27.83.
Bartnicki placed sixth in the 800m with a time of 2:22.02.
JUMPS
Obinna placed second in the long jump with a mark of 6.64m. Adam Kedzior placed fifth with a mark of 6.22m.Â
Kedrick Johnson III placed seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 13.40m.Â
Micah O'Neal cleared a personal best in the pole vault with a height of 3.91m on the way to a third place finish.
Layne Rund placed fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.78m.
THROWS
Lucas Leal won the weight throw with a throw of 18.93m. Tyler Rose and Brost finished fourth and fifth respectively with marks of 17.28m and 17.02m. Jordan Hughes placed eighth with a throw of 15.30m.
In the shot put Hughes and Rose placed fourth and fifth with marks of 13.67m and 13.58m respectively. Raymore Jones placed eighth with a mark of 11.65m.
RELAYS
The 4x400 meter relay team, which featured Higgs, Bartnicki, Mason Boles, and Eli Fredrickson, placed third in a time of 3:42.98.
"I thought we had a really solid meet and continue to show growth as we transition into the outdoor season," said Head Coach
Josh Henry. "It was also nice to celebrate all of our seniors at their final home meet. We're looking forward to heading to Indoor Nationals in Rochester next week with Lucas, Tyler, and our women's team qualifiers."
The Firebirds will wait to learn if Leal and Rose will compete in the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. The NCAA will release the National Championship Qualifying List on Sunday, March 9. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
