"I was really happy with how we competed this weekend," said Head Coach Josh Henry. "We had standout performances from all event groups and saw some individuals have that breakthrough type of conference meet that can really change their perception of what they're capable of moving forward. With that said, a fifth place team finish isn't the standard we want to hold ourselves to. We truly feel this indoor season has been a building block and admittedly we set our conference lineup with the future in mind. We're looking forward to turning our focus to the outdoor season after sending Tyler and Lucas to nationals in two weeks. "

"On a different note," Henry added. "I'd like to thank everyone who made hosting a great conference championship meet this weekend possible. Our staff, student-athletes, and administration put in a lot of work to make sure every CCIW track & field student-athlete had an incredible championship experience. We also had a ton of alumni make the voyage back to campus to support. It was a special weekend and a reminder of what makes being a part of the Firebird family special. Let's Go 'Birds!"

The Firebirds return to the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center on Friday, March 7 as Carthage hosts the Firebird Finale at 3:15 p.m. The Firebirds will also celebrate Senior Day before the meet, with festivities scheduled to begin at 2:15 pm. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
