KENOSHA - The Carthage men's track & field team hosted the opening day of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Indoor Track & Field Championships. Throws led the way placing four individuals in scoring position, including an individual champion in the weight throw.



After the opening day the Firebirds are sitting in third place with 25.33 points. North Central leads with 42 points followed by Illinois Wesleyan in 2nd with 28. Augustana and Millikin round out the top five with 22.33 and 13.33 points respectively.



SPRINTS

Mac Anderson qualified for the finals in the 55 meter dash. Anderson had the fourth fastest time of the day with a personal best time of 6.46. 

DISTANCE

Jacob Curulewski placed fifth in the 5000 meter with a season best time of 15:17.75.*

The distance medley relay, which consists of Michael Herres, Andy Liu, Michael Barber, and Micah Anderson placed fourth with a time of 10:26.92.*

JUMPS

Adam Kedzior finished tied for eighth in the pole vault with a vault of 4.01 meters.*

Kedrick Johnson III placed eighth in the long jump with a mark of 6.63 meters.* 

THROWS

Lucas Leal won the weight throw with a personal best mark of 19.09 meters.* Tyler Rose finished in third with a throw of 18.24m*, Jordan Hughes placed seventh with a personal best mark of 16.44*, Jacob Brost finished eighth with a throw of 16.39 meters.* Men's weight throw combined for 19 of the teams 25.33 points in the event.

Men's track & field is back in action on Saturday, Mar. 1 as the team looks to continue their momentum at the final day of the CCIW Indoor Track & Field Championships. Action begins with the continuation of the heptathlon at 9:30 a.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
