Women's Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Honors

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Carthage women's tennis team was named a 2024 All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), as announced by the ITA on Wednesday morning. 13 student-athletes were also recognized by the ITA for their efforts in the classroom.

Individuals receiving the ITA Scholar Athlete award included Beatriz Ferreira, Brookelyn Velmont, Giovanna Mendes, Isabella Gentz, Larissa Ishikawa, Lindsay Otte, Luana Da Silva, Maddie Berglund, Maddie Kearney, Natalie Hermann, Sasha Manojlovic, Victoria Rizzo, and Xingchen Liu.

Individuals received this award based on the following criteria:
  • Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the current academic year
  • Be listed on the institutional eligibility form

The Firebirds earned the team award for meeting the following requirements:
  • Have a team GPA of 3.2 or above,
  • All student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
  • All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative GPA for the current academic year.
