NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Carthage men's track & field team has been ranked 21st in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Ratings Index presented by AthleticNET, the USTFCCCA announced Tuesday. The ratings are determined using a point system that values the national rankings of individual student-athletes in each program.
The Firebirds scored 82.50 points this week and are the only ranked team from the CCIW. Carthage is one of eight teams ranked from the North Region, along with UW-La Crosse (1), UW-Oshkosh (2), Bethel (Minn.) (3), UW-Eau Claire (4), UW-Whitewater (11), St. John's (Minn.) (18), and UW-Platteville (19).
Joseph White continues to lead the Firebirds and is ranked first in the country in the shot put (18.98m), second in discus (58.54m), and seventh in the hammer throw (60.57m). Lucas Leal currently ranks 11th in hammer (59.43m), while Jacob Brost ranks 41st (55.24m). Kedrick Johnson III is ranked in the triple jump in 43rd (14.14m). Micah Anderson ranks 46th in the 3,000m steeplechase (9:14.61).
