WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Carthage women's track & field team competed at the 2024 Wisconsin Private College Championships at Carroll University. It was another strong outing for the Firebirds, who came away with a second place finish on the team scoreboard and two new school records which came from performances by Abbey Calhoun (triple jump) and Aubrey Schoeneman (shot put).

A. Calhoun broke her previous school record of 11.64m (2024) with a mark of 11.92m to win the event. Emma Kreuziger placed sixth at 10.08m. The two earned a combined 13 points for the team.

A. Schoeneman claimed the school record and the win in shot put with a mark of 15.11m. Alyssa Gulsvig placed fourth at 12.62m. Mikayla Wright placed seventh at 12.34m, while Jackie Tuzil finished eighth at 12.27m. The Firebirds earned 18 points in the event. 

Alexis Mattox earned the win in hammer throw with a mark of 54.43m. Nicole Tarpley placed third at 50.02m, with A. Schoeneman taking fourth at 48.12m. Dora Dill placed sixth at 44.42m, while Madison Payne placed seventh at 44.24m.

Kylie Smith and Aubrey Broz finished first and second respectively in the 10,000m, with Smith running 38:41.23 and Broz finishing in 42:09.45. The duo scored 18 points.

Anna Kegel claimed the victory in long jump with a mark of 5.26m, earning 10 points for the Carthage team score.

Tara Schaalma placed second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:09.92. E. Kreuziger placed eighth in 1:17.03. The two totaled 9 team points.

N. Tarpley placed second in discus with a throw of 44.26m. A. Gulsvig placed fourth at 42.75m, with J. Tuzil in fifth at 41.17m, and A. Schoeneman in sixth at 39.71m.

A. Kegel placed third in the 100m with a time of 12.57 seconds. Sarah Kerfin placed fifth at 13.08, while Jazzmine Jones placed sixth at 13.09. The trio combined for 13 points.

Teagan Johnston placed third in high jump with a height of 1.50m. Charlotte Monroe placed sixth, also clearing 1.50m. The two combined for 8 points.

Jessie Pakaski placed fifth with a finishing time of 2:29.82, earning 4 points for the Firebirds.

T. Johnston placed seventh in javelin with a throw of 30.07m. Ally LaBerge placed eighth at 28.06m. Carthage scored 3 points in the event.

Julia Kraus placed seventh in the 100m hurdles in 17.35 seconds, scoring 2 points.
