WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Carthage men's track & field team competed in the 2024 Wisconsin Private College Championships at Carroll University on Saturday. It was a strong day for the Firebirds, winning four individual events and coming away with a team win.

Micah Anderson won the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:54.65. Topher Davis placed third in 10:07.40. The duo earned 16 points for Carthage.

Joseph White won shot put with a mark of 17.14m. Renz Lies placed eighth at 13.01m. The two throwers combined for 11 points.

Jacob Curulewski won the 10,000m with a time of 32:40.55, earning 10 points for the Firebirds.

The 4x100m relay team, which featured Tre Mitchell, Mac Anderson, Jaylan Nelson, and Dylan Parker, won the event with a combined time of 42.45 seconds. The relay squad earned 10 points for the team score.

J. White placed second in hammer throw with a mark of 56.11m Lucas Leal placed fourth at 53.54m, while Jacob Brost placed fifth at 51.64, and R. Lies placed sixth at 45.34m.

Chase Upmann placed second in the 1,500m with a time of 4:02.29. Trevor Swanson placed third in 4:04.36. The two runners totaled 14 points for the Carthage squad.

J. White finished second in discus with a throw of 53.14m. Tyler Rose places fifth at 42.90m. The two combined for 14 points.

Zebulon Turner placed second in the high jump, clearing a mark of 1.80m. Adam Kedzior placed eighth at 1.65m. The pair totaled 11 points.

[Mac] Anderson placed second in the 100m with a 10.99 performance, earning 8 points.

Dylan Parker placed third in the 400m with a time of 50.84. Andy Liu placed sixth at 52.27, while Joe Balas took eighth at 52.77. Carthage scored 10 points in the event.

J. Nelson placed third in the 200m with a time of 22.24 seconds. Christopher Seals placed eighth in 22.96. The duo earned 7 points.

Kedrick Johnson III placed third in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.25 seconds. He scored 6 points for his performance.

The 4x400m relay team, which was made up of A. Kedzior, Michael Barber, Alek Zavadoski, and C. Upmann, placed third in a combined 3:24.08. The squad scored 6 points for the Firebirds.

Luke Holtmeier placed third in long jump with a mark of 6.66m, scoring 6 points. 

Michael Herres placed seventh in the 800m with a time of 1:59.24, scoring 2 points for the Firebirds.

Connor Wood placed eighth in the 5,000m with a time of 16:05.47, scoring 1 team point.

J. Brost placed eighth in javelin with a throw of 42.24m, earning a point for the Firebirds.



"It was a well rounded performance for us today," said Head Coach Josh Henry. "I thought our sprints crew in particular really turned up. I'm really excited to see their development over the past few months as that will really help us come championship season. Coach Cale and the gang have been doing some great work."
