WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Carthage women's track & field team competed at the Drake Alternative at Wis-Whitewater on Thursday. It was another strong day for the Firebirds as the team tuned up before next week's conference championships.



Alyssa Gulsvig won discus with a personal best mark of 45.42m. Nicole Tarpley placed second at 44.25m.

Abbey Calhoun won the triple jump with a mark of 11.51m.

Julie Heinrichs placed third in the 400m with a personal best 1:00.35.

Mikayla Wright placed third in the shot put with a personal best mark of 13.44m. A. Gulsvig placed fourth at 13.13m, while Madison Payne placed seventh at 12.83m. 

N. Tarpley placed fourth in the hammer throw with a personal best throw of 50.23m.

The 4x100m relay team, which featured Jazzmine Jones, Mandy Nelson, Anna Kegel, Sarah Kerfin, placed fifth in the event with a season best 49.83.

A. Kegel placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 5.07m. Christina Hall placed eighth with a season best jump of 5.02m.

Charlotte Monroe placed eighth in the high jump, clearing 1.47m.

Jessie Pakaski placed eighth in the 800m with a time of 2:27.22.




Aubrey Schoeneman and Alexis Mattox will represent the Firebirds this weekend at the prestigious Drake relays. The Firebirds will return to action on Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4 as Carthage is set to compete at the CCIW Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Rock Island, Ill.
