ROCK ISLAND, Ill. / WHEATON, Ill. - The Carthage women's track & field team competed at the Augustana College Meet of Champions and the Wheaton College Don Church Twilight Invitational on Friday and Saturday. It was a very strong weekend for the Firebirds, coming away with five individual wins in various events and a second place finish on the team scoreboard.

MEET OF CHAMPIONS

Teagan Johnston placed sixth in the heptathlon with 3,521 points. Her top scoring event came in the high jump where she scored 689 points with a mark of 1.56m.

DON CHURCH TWILIGHT INVITATIONAL

CJ Lange won javelin with a new personal best throw of 35.26m. Ally LaBerge placed third at 32.18m, also setting a new PR. The duo earned 16 points.

Aubrey Schoeneman won the shot put with a throw of 14.93m. Alexis Mattox placed fifth at 12.92m. Mikayla Wright placed sixth at 12.26m, while Madison Payne placed seventh at 12.19m. The group scored 19 points in the event for the team.

Abbey Calhoun won the triple jump with a mark of 11.50m. Jadynn Kramer placed seventh at 9.59m. The duo combined for 12 points.

Tara Schaalma won the 400m hurdles with a personal best 1:08.78. Julie Heinrichs placed third in 1:11.44. The pair combined for 16 points.

Kylie Smith won the 5,000m with a personal best time of 17:55.35. She scored 10 points for the Firebirds.

A. Mattox placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 51.67m. Nicole Tarpley placed third at 48.48m, while Dora Dill took fourth with a personal best 48.00m, and A. Schoeneman placed fifth at 47.29m. M. Payne placed seventh at 43.73m. The group combined for 35 points.

The 4x400m relay team, which featured Mandy Nelson, J. Heinrichs, Jessie Pakaski, and Sarah Kerfin, placed second at 4:13.33.

A. Schoeneman placed third in discus with a throw of 42.48m. Alyssa Gulsvig placed fourth at 41.54m, while N. Tarpley placed fifth at 41.25m and Jackie Tuzil placed sixth at 39.55m. The squad scored 18 points in the event.

Charlotte Monroe placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 4.95m, scoring 4 points for Carthage.

The 4x100m relay team, which featured Jazzmine Jones, M. Nelson, Anna Kegel, and S. Kerfin, placed fifth and scored 4 points in the event with a combined time of 50.81 seconds. 

Kylie Florance placed fifth and scored 4 points in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 12:29.44.

S. Kerfin placed eighth and scored a point in the 200m with a season best time of 26.86 seconds.
