Firebirds Compete in Day One of NCAA Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Carthage women's track & field team competed in day one of the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships. The Firebirds were represented by three athletes, Anna Kegel in the long jump, as well as Alexis Mattox and Nicole Tarpley in the weight throw.

Who Led the Way

Kegel placed 19th in the long jump with a mark of 5.03m, which came on her first attempt of the day.

Mattox finished 15th in the weight throw with a mark of 16.76m, which she threw on her first attempt. Tarpley placed 17th at 15.92m, which also was registered on her first attempt.

The Firebirds return to action tomorrow for day two of the NCAA DIII Indoor Track & Field National Championships. Carthage will be represented by Aubrey Schoeneman and Alyssa Gulsvig in the shot put championships. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
