NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Carthage women's track & field team competed in the final day of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Indoor Track & Field Championships at North Central College. It was another great day for the Firebirds, as the team came away with the highest finish the program has had since 2020.

Aubrey Schoeneman placed second in the shot put with a throw of 14.29m. Mikayla Wright placed fifth at 13.20m. Alexis Mattox placed sixth at 13.11m. Madison Payne placed seventh at 12.69m, while Alyssa Gulsvig took eighth at 12.63m.*
Charlotte Monroe placed third in the high jump, clearing 1.52m and scoring 4.5 points for the team score.*
Abbey Calhoun placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.31m. Tara Schaalma placed eighth at 10.85m. The duo registered five points for the Firebirds.*
The 4x400m relay team which featured Mandy Nelson, Julie Heinrichs, Sarah Kerfin, and Schaalma, placed sixth in 4:11.86 to score three points for Carthage.
Kylie Smith placed sixth in the 3,000m with a time of 10:41.63 and scored three points in the event*
Smith also placed seventh in the mile with a time of 5:20.34 to score two points for the Firebirds.*
Anna Kegel placed seventh in the 60m dash with a time of 7.98 seconds, adding two more points to the Firebirds score.*
Kerfin earned the CCIW RESPECT Award for the Firebirds. At the conclusion of every sport's season, each varsity program will recognize one student-athlete as their RESPECT Award honoree. RESPECT Award recipients have distinguished themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution, and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration, and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourage inclusiveness and a positive culture.

"We are very happy with today's performances," said Head Coach Stephanie Domin. "The team stepped up in many areas and once again had a fantastic day. A total team effort with lots of PRs , points scored and energy from all."
