WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Carthage women's track & field team traveled to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday to compete in the Squig Converse.  The Firebirds battled hard and came away with a pair of individual wins and a sixth place finish as a team.

Alexis Mattox continued her season of dominance in the weight throw, winning the meet with a mark of 17.12m. Nicole Tarpley finished second in the event at 16.30m. Aubrey Schoeneman came in seventh place at 15.43m. 

Schoeneman earned the victory in the shot put with a throw of 13.84m. Madison Payne placed second with a mark of 13.11m. Mattox placed eighth at 12.10m. 

The 4x400m relay team, which featured Angelina Gersch, Julie Heinrichs, Julia Kraus, and Anna Kegel, placed sixth with a season best time of 4:20.72.

Christina Hall placed seventh in the long jump with a season best jump of 5.21m.

Tara Schaalma came in seventh place in the 60m hurdles with a 9.72 second performance.



"We have some work to do over the four weeks to be ready for the CCIW meet at the end of February," said Head Coach Stephanie Domin. "We are looking forward to having the whole team back next week practicing and competing at the Tadd Metzger Invite."



The Firebirds return to the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center on Feb. 2 as the team will host the Tadd Metzger Invite and Multi.For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
