Coachs Remarks
"We had a great three days of track & field at the North Central Carius-Gregory and St. Francis Fighting Chance Invitationals, highlighted by two new school records.

On Thursday, our 4x100m relay team of Tre Mitchell, Luke Shugarman, Jaylan Nelson, and Mac Anderson started off in a big way, breaking the school record with an impressive 41.62-second performance at North Central. Also, on day one, Lucas Leal threw a big personal best of 57.11 meters in the hammer throw. That mark moves him up on the Carthage All-Time list and into the top 25 nationally this season.

On day two at North Central, the highlight of the day was Chase Upmann reestablishing his 800m school record with an impressive time of 1:52.10, which moved him further up on the national leaderboard. Also, on day two at NCC, Cam Fischer ran an impressive lifetime best mark in the 1500m, narrowly missing the sub four minute club. The sprints crew also saw several PRs fall with very strong performances in the 100m and 200m from Jaylan, Mac, and Luke.

On Friday at St. Francis, Lucas Leal doubled down on his hammer PR from the day previous, again throwing 57.11m to win the event. Also, in the hammer, Jacob Brost threw a lifetime best mark of 49.02m.

On day two of the St. Francis meet, Joseph White capped off a strong weekend for the program with a lifetime best mark of 51.42m in the discus. That mark moves Joseph into the top 10 nationally this season and all but ensures his qualification for three events at the NCAA Championships in two weeks. It also moves him up to third on the Carthage All-Time list.

Overall it was a very exciting three days seeing all of our event groups perform at a high level. We have one final opportunity to chase marks at the Augustana Twilight Meet before the NCAA Championships next week. We hope to build off the momentum created this week and continue to better our standing nationally and in the Carthage history books."
