RIPON, Wis. — Carthage College men's track and field student-athlete
Chase Upmann competed at the Ripon Final Qualifier on Saturday, breaking his school record for the 800m run with a time of 1:53.37.
Upmann, from Rockford, Ill., was a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Track Student-Athlete of the Week selection on February 1. The 1:53.37 time puts him 21st nationally at the moment, just on the cusp of qualifying for the NCAA National meet.
"Chase ran a great race today and solidified his hold over the indoor 800m school record," said head coach
Josh Henry. "Additionally, the flat track conversion gives him a strong boost in the national rankings heading into the final day of the indoor season. He will have an outside shot at qualifying, depending on how declarations shake out tomorrow. Regardless of the outcome with NCAA qualification, Chase has had a great season and much to be proud of."
