Four CCIW Champions Crowned as Men’s Track Places 6th at Outdoor Conference Championships

5/7/2022 10:57:00 PM

WHEATON, Ill. — Four members of the Carthage men's track & field team finished first in their respective events at the 2022 CCIW Outdoor Track & Field Championships to earn conference champion honors.

Freshman Adam Kedzior finished first in the men's decathlon, earning 5,473 points over his ten events. Senior Matt Ausse took first in the men's hammer throw at 57.14 meters. Freshman Joseph White won the men's shot put event and set a new personal and school program record with his throw of 18.01m, shattering the previous record he set of 17.79m at the Wheaton Dom Church Twilight on April 23rd of this year.

Freshman Alex Jarvis placed first in the triple jump with a distance of 13.17m.

Head Coach Josh Henry:

"We had a lot to be proud of today. Four conference champions and a new school record is nothing to be ashamed of. However, we were on the wrong end of a close team battle, finishing 6th. It goes to show how deep and competitive the CCIW is. Nothing is given freely in this conference.

The outdoor CCIW Meet is always bitter sweet since it is the last meet for many of our graduating seniors. I would like to put a little light on these guys as they close their careers with us. They have been a great group of guys who've grown as athletes and most importantly people during their time at Carthage. They will be sorely missed but I'm truly proud of them and excited for their next chapter.

The next two weeks of competition will be dedicated to chasing some marks for our top guys at final qualifying meets before we turn our focus on the NCAA Championships."
