GENEVA, Ohio — The third and final day at the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships saw another member of the Carthage women's track and field team compete, as Alexis Mattox took to the throwing circle for the hammer throw on Saturday at the Spire Sports Complex.

"Today wasn't the result we were hoping for but it's going to serve as a great learning experience," said assistant coach Greg Raimondi. "Being at this meet regardless of the outcome is something to be proud of and a great accomplishment. Lex had a great outdoor season and I am excited to see what next year will bring."

The junior from Kenosha, Wis. would foul out on each of her three attempts at nationals, bringing a close to a fantastic season. Mattox finishes her 2022 outdoor season after posting top-10 marks in school history in both the shot put and hammer throw this season, with her PR of 53.31 meters placing her fifth all-time at Carthage in the hammer.
