Women’s Track and Field Closes Out Regular Season at Augustana Midwest Twilight

5/19/2022 9:35:00 PM

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — The Carthage women's track and field team competed in their final regular season meet of the 2022 season on Thursday, as a group of student-athletes traveled to the Augustana Midwest Twilight at the Austin E. Knowlton Outdoor Athletic Complex.

Assistant Coach Greg Raimondi

"This last chance meet was a great opportunity to see high-level competition. It provided an opportunity for those already in nationals to compete and those chasing a spot to go after it. Unfortunately, no improvements from the group, but some strong performances heading in to next week. The plus side is the individuals contending for nationals spots are young and will be hungry for more next year. We will find out tomorrow officially who will compete at the outdoor NCAA Championships in Ohio."

Highlights

  • Grace Robinson took third place in the 400-meter hurdles today with a time of 1:03.67, but currently sits in 16th in the NCAA this season with a PR of 1:02.92 this season.
  • Nicole Tarpley took eighth in the discus today with a throw of 42.28 meters.
  • Alyssa Gulsvig was the top finisher for the Firebirds in the shot put, placing fifth after hitting a PR on her final attempt at 13 meters.
  • Liv Carel placed just behind her in sixth with a throw of 12.99 meters.
