NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Carthage men's track and field team competed in day one of the Carius/Gregory Invitational on Thursday, as the throwers got things started. The rest of the Firebirds are set to begin day two of the event at 2 p.m. tomorrow, May 13.
 

Highlights

• In the men's hammer, Joseph White hit a personal best at 58.10 meters, moving him into fourth all-time at Carthage and putting him in position to qualify for nationals.
• Matthew Ausse took second place in the event as well, on a toss of 57.86 meters.
• White then returned in the shot put and took first place in the event, hitting 17.15 meters on his first throw to take the win.
