WHITEWATER, Wis. — The Carthage men's track and field team continued to set personal-best marks and edit the record books, as they competed at the Drake Alternate Meet on the campus of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Friday.
"What a difference one meet can make. Going into today's meet, I felt that our backs were up against the wall a little bit with conference only a week away. The shortened, weather challenged season hasn't allowed us to throw down the marks we would like to at this point in the year. I think we answered any doubts that may have been creeping in due to the strange start to the season today."
"We had a really strong day with the distance crew, bringing home two wins in the 800 and 1500 with Chase and Craig respectively. Both their marks break into the top 10 list with Craig ranking 6th in the 1500 and Chase 10th in the 800. The sprints crew also had a strong day. Among the highlights are a win in the 4x100m relay, strong races in the 200 and 400 from Alonzo, a personal best in the 100 from Mac, and a very nice 110 hurdles PR from Adam."
"Our throws crew continued to be a force among stiff competition. Joseph won the shot, Matt finished 4th in the hammer only trailing three throwers from the University of Wisconsin, and a strong personal best mark in the javelin from Mason. The goal for the upcoming week will be to recover and put the final pieces together before we head to the CCIW Championships at Wheaton on Friday."
