2/19/2022 7:43:00 PM

OSHKOSH, Wis. — The Carthage men's track and field team traveled north to compete in the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge on Saturday at the Kolf Sports Center, taking eighth place among the 15 teams competing. As a team, Carthage totaled 17 points, as the host UW-Oshkosh claimed first with 210 total points.

The Firebirds now turn their attention to the CCIW Championships next weekend, beginning on Friday, February 25 in the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center on the campus of Carthage College. No spectators are allowed at the event, but a live steam and live results page will be provided.

Head Coach Josh Henry

"Today's meet was our final opportunity to improve on our marks before the CCIW Championships next week and we saw a lot of improvements from those who were competing today. In the throws today, we saw a couple of personal bests in the shot from Lucas and Renz. We also saw strong marks out of Joseph as we have grown accustomed to. However, we saw some big throws from Carroll and Augustana this weekend, so we will need to be firing on all cylinders next week."

"In the distance events, we saw three really nice 3,000-meter races from Aiden, Derek, and Charles. We also saw season bests or lifetime bests from nearly our entire 800 meter crew. Patrick also ran a solid mile PR today. In the sprints, Adam ran a nice 60 meter hurdle race, which is encouraging for his heptathlon next week. The 400 guys ran well today, all taking significant steps forward. That crew was led by a really solid run of 53.36 by Joe Balas."

"Overall, we have had an incredible season thus far, but none of that will matter next week. That will all come down to who shows up ready to be at their best on Friday and Saturday. I'm excited to see what our guys are able to put together. It has the potential to be a special weekend."
