NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) selected Carthage sophomore thrower
Joseph White as the field student-athlete of the week on Tuesday, giving the Kenosha, Wis. native his third conference player of the week award of the season.
For the fourth-straight meet, White won both the weight throw and shot put last Saturday, February 12 at the Midwest Elite Invitational on the campus of UW-Whitewater. In the first event of the day, the weight throw, White crushed the school record with a mark of 19.43 meters on his fifth attempt. He now leads the CCIW by a full meter in the weight, and ranks second across all of NCAA Division III. His winning shot put throw of 16.45 meters gave him his 10th first-place finish in Carthage's seven indoor meets this season.
The Firebirds have now won four of the six CCIW field athlete of the week awards this year.
Carthage is scheduled to head to the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge next on Saturday, February 19.
