ELMHURST, Ill. — The Carthage men's and women's track and field teams took their runners and jumpers to the Elmhurst University Twilight Invitational on Friday. Accumulating 88 points, the men placed 4th out of 10 teams in attendance, while the women placed 5th among the 10 teams after scoring 61 points.
The track and field teams will be back in action tomorrow, as the throwers head to the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternate tomorrow.
"We had another strong day today and I'm pretty pleased with the progress we've made as a team this spring. One of the most encouraging results today came from the horizontal jumps. Getting Benny, Mason, and Connor over the six-meter mark was a very positive step. We also continued to build on our sprints crew depth, getting some nice races from David and Kolby. I'm looking forward to seeing what our throws crew can do at Whitewater tomorrow to cap off the weekend."
"Tonight's meet was not one of our best across the board, but we continue to have some bright points. In the 800,
Bella Serrano, Gabbie Rinon and
Maddie Orgill had personal-best performances.
Kerigann Ballard dropped six seconds off of her 1,500, while
Amy Mayhill had a personal-best time and Pearl Moss won the high jump with a personal best as well.
Cailey Ciezadlo continues to dominate the sprints by winning the 100 and 200 meter dash. Our throwers compete tomorrow at UWW, and we're looking forward to seeing their strong marks."
