BIRMINGHAM, ALA.—The tail-end of spring break had Birmingham-Southern College await the Carthage College men's lacrosse team for a Saturday-night affair in Birmingham, Alabama. The Red Men led or tied from start-to-finish, but BSC threatened with a late-game 2-0 run that proved to be too late as Carthage held onto a 12-11 victory.

Andy Szun each netted a hat trick for the Carthage offense, who found themselves on the wrong end of a 47-46 shots ratio.
Brody Ilstrup paced all players with 12 shots while Lindner was on his heels with 11 in the contest. The Red Men notched a 19-16 advantage in ground balls, where Lindner led the team with three.
Ethan Flight led all Red Men point scorers with two goals and two assists.

Sam Kotsonas took over for the final 37:42 and recorded the win with seven saves.
Carthage improves to 6-1, 0-0 CCIW while Birmingham Southern falls to 4-3.

Lindner and Szun each notched a pair of first-quarter goals for a Carthage squad that took a 7-3 lead after 15:00. The Red Men outshot BSC 14-11 in the second quarter, but BSC capitalized on their chances as they outscored Carthage 6-2 over the next two quarters to tie the game 9-9 with 4:45 left in the third quarter.
The Red Men used that as ignition for the final frame, where they opened with a 3-0 run and a 5-1 shots advantage en route to a 12-9 lead with 10:15 left. BSC fired back with a 14-4 edge in shots to close the game, and narrowed their deficit to 12-11 with 0:05 on the clock, where Carthage secured the win.
The Red Men were victims of six-of-10 infractions assessed in the contest.
Carthage will hit the road to Southern Virginia University on Saturday, March 16 for an 11:00 a.m. (ET) game time in Buena Vista, Virginia.
