BUENA VISTA, VA.—A week removed from a three-game tour throughout the Gulf South, the Carthage College men's lacrosse team made a quick turnaround for an 11-hour bus ride to Buena Vista, Virginia for a Saturday-afternoon bout against Southern Virginia University. The Red Men jumped to a 3-0 lead with 10:06 left in the first quarter, which also included a 6-0 edge in shots. That cushion slowly dwindled as Southern Virginia didn't allow another Red Men lead when they tied the game 4-4 with 5:48 left in the opening frame before they cruised to a 25-16 victory.

Noah Lindner engineered the Red Men offense with five goals and two assists for seven points, along with a game-high 11 shot attempts.

Colin Poitras each tallied three-point games for Carthage.

The Red Men turned in their best performance from the face-off circle this season with a 28-of-44 mark.
Griffin Cleary engineered Carthage's face-off efforts with a 27-of-38 figure.
Liam O'Connor and
Eron Simpson each contributed a pair of caused turnovers for the Red Men, who finished with nine in the contest.

Kyle Guthrie,
Sam Kotsonas and
Zerik Rodriguez each saw time in net and collectively made 15 saves for the Red Men. Southern Virginia also saw a trio of goalies see time in Caleb Brodie, Morgan Dunn and Ian Arave, who collectively tallied 11 saves.

Carthage's 3-0 lead with 10:06 left in the first vanished after Southern Virginia responded with a 7-2 run and a 12-5 shots advantage to close the opening frame en route to a 7-5 cushion. Southern Virginia proceeded to double-up Carthage in the score column with a 16-8 halftime lead. That lead continued to grow as Southern Virginia outscored Carthage 6-1 in the third quarter, giving them a 22-9 edge heading into the final 10:00.

The fourth quarter saw the tables turn in favor of Carthage, where five different Red Men contributed goals for a team total of seven in the frame. Time was the Red Men's enemy in their comeback bid as they ended the game with a 26-16 loss.
