PARADISE VALLEY, ARIZ.—The 2017-18 spring opener pitted the Carthage College men's golf team against Benedictine Mesa University in a match-play dual at the Mountain Shadows Golf Club in Paradise Valley, Ariz. The Red Men opened the spring campaign in style as victories from
Jordan Knutson,
Matt Lynch and
Ben Alt secured them a 3-2 win over the Redhawks.
Knutson edged Benedictine Mesa's Zach Ruiz by one hole, while it took Lynch 21 holes to defeat Dallon Bennett. Alt's victory over Braiden Williamson secured Carthage the team victory in match-play competition.
Matt Meneghetti suffered a loss to Zach Holesinger, while
Reid Anderson opened the spring season with a defeat to Cameron Hedge.
The Red Men will return to competition at the Marian University Invitational on Monday, April 2 – Tuesday, April 3 at the Eagle Creek Golf Course in Indianapolis, Ind. Monday's round will begin at 11:00 a.m., while Tuesday's event will kick-off at 9:30 a.m.
