2/27/2018 1:20:00 PM

KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College men's golf team will open the spring portion of their 2017-18 season against Benedictine Mesa University on Friday, March 2 at the Mountain Shadows Golf Course in Paradise Valley, Ariz. at 1:30 p.m. (MT). The Red Men, who are coming off a first-place finish out of 13 teams at the Milwaukee School of Engineering Invitational on October 2-3, fell to the Redhawks 314-312 at the Mesa Country Club last season on March 17, 2017.

Benedictine Mesa returns three out of five guys that made last season's lineup against the Red Men in Joe Baldeck, Jake Britton and Todd Andrews. Also on the Redhawk roster is Kenosha native Sam Shelton.

Carthage will look to carry momentum from a 2017 fall season that resulted in two first place, and three second-place tallies.

Leading the way for Carthage is Matt Meneghetti, who carries a 73.00 average over nine rounds in 2017-18. Jordan Knutson, who sat out two events this past fall due to back problems, is second on the team with a 74.57 average on seven rounds of work this season.

As a team, the Red Men rank second in the CCIW with a four-player team average of 299.00 on nine rounds.
