LAKE FOREST, ILL.—Carthage College head women's basketball coach
Tim Bernero was announced as one-of-five inductees for the Lake Forest College Athletic Hall of Fame on Sunday. The ceremony will be held in the Mohr Student Center/Stuart Commons in Calvin Durand Hall, located on the campus of Lake Forest College, on Saturday, October 7 at 10:00 a.m.
Bernero, who will enter his 15
th season patrolling the Lady Reds' bench in 2017-18, was a four-year letterwinner for the Foresters men's basketball program from 1983-87. He concluded his playing career with 1,325 points, the sixth-highest total in Lake Forest history at the time of his graduation.
Bernero's 20.3 points per game as a senior (1986-87) landed him team most valuable player, and a spot on the All-Midwest Collegiate Athletic Conference First Team. He also registered the 1987 Nicholas J. Wasylik Award.
Following graduation, Bernero spent time as an assistant men's basketball coach at University of Chicago, North Park University and Elmhurst College before arriving to Carthage in 1996 to serve in the same capacity. He was named Lady Reds head women's basketball coach prior to the 2003-04 season, where he went on to become the program's all-time winningest coach (241-135), notch a pair of CCIW Championships, and earn four trips to the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament.
