Women's Basketball Earns Academic All-District Honors from College Sports Communicators

GREENWOOD— Four student-athletes from the Carthage College women's basketball team have been named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday. The student-athletes included Emma Carlson, Elena Knebel, Emma Thistle, and Malia Green.

Carlson, a graduate student from Northfield, Minn. and Lawrence University, started in 23 games for the Firebirds during the 2024-25 season. Carlson averaged 8.6 points per game, along with 7.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists.

Knebel, a senior from Lockport, Ill., started in all 26 games for the Firebirds while averaging 4.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.

Thistle, a senior from Grafton, Wis., started in all 26 games for the Firebirds and averaged 7.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.

Green, a junior from Madison, Wis., also started in all 26 games for Carthage this season. Green averaged 9.5 points per game along with 3.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.6 steals.

The 2024-25 Academic All-District® women's basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
