Red Men To Conclude 2017 Regular Season With Three-Game Week

 


KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College men's lacrosse team (13-3, 4-0 CCIW) will host three games in their final week of the 2017 regular season. First on the docket is a game against Augustana College (Ill.) on Wednesday, April 26 at Art Keller Field. The Red Men will end their regular season on Saturday, April 29 against Milwaukee School of Engineering at 12:00 p.m., followed by a 4:00 p.m. bout against Carroll University (Wis.). Seniors Bryce Withers, Connor Nelson, Jordyn Williams, Ryan Smith, Billy Lane, Jonah Lackey and Zack Patton will be honored prior to Carthage's game against Carroll (Wis.) on Saturday.
 
The Red Men, currently alone in first place, can clinch at least a share of the CCIW Regular Season Championship with a victory over Augustana on Wednesday.
 
Andy Meyers ranks fourth in the country with a .753 faceoff winning percentage while goalkeeper Ryan Smith is sixth in goals against average (6.42).
 
ABOUT AUGUSTANA COLLEGE (7-8, 3-1 CCIW)
 
The Vikings, who are in third place in the CCIW, will take a two-game win streak into their bout with Carthage. Adam Borgetti paces the Vikings in scoring with 21 goals and 13 assists for 34 points. Nick Gallo's 23 goals and seven assists round out the 30+ Viking point scorers. Gallo also paces the CCIW with seven man-up goals.
 
Goalkeeper Jeremiah Heredia, who's started all but two games for Augustana, carries an 11.26 goals against average and a .541 save percentage. Augustana leads the CCIW with 189 team saves.
 
Dan Torie is in his second season as Augustana head men's lacrosse coach. The Red Men own a 5-2 all-time record against the Vikings.
 
ABOUT MILWAUKEE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING (7-7, 4-3 MLC)
 
The Raiders, a member of the Midwest Lacrosse Conference, will take a two-game win streak into their game with Benedictine on Wednesday, April 26. Clay Gustafson leads MSOE with 39 goals and 25 assists for 64 points. Collin Fischer is the second-leading scorer with 29 goals and eight assist for 37 points.
 
Goalkeeper Pat Collins has started every game for the Radiers and owns an 8.62 goals against average and a .513 save percentage.
 
Sean Farrell, who previously served as Carthage's assistant coach, is in his third season leading MSOE. Carthage will look to keep their perfect 8-0 all-time record intact against the Raiders.
 
ABOUT CARROLL (WIS.) (4-10, 0-4 CCIW)
 
The Pioneers are in pursuit of their first victory since a 9-7 decision over University of Dallas on April 1. Jeffrey Schultz leads the team with 26 goals and 10 assists for 36 points. Goalkeeper Abraham Escarda, who's started 10-of-14 games for Carroll (Wis.), has an 11.43 goals against average and a .513 save percentage.
 
Brian Nowak is in his first season as Carroll (Wis.) head men's lacrosse coach. The Red Men have a 2-0 all-time record against the Pioneers.
