Box Score MOUNT VERNON, IOWA—The Carthage College men's lacrosse team faced Cornell College in day two of their Iowa road trip on Sunday afternoon. The Red Men evened their overall record to 2-2 following Saturday afternoon's 16-3 trounce over the University of Dubuque.

The Rams entered Sunday afternoon in pursuit of their first victory of the 2016 season. That pursuit wasn't meant to be for Cornell College as they dropped a 9-4 decision to the Red Men on Sunday afternoon.

The Rams took advantage of a man up opportunity after the Red Men were flagged for a cross check at the 12:50 mark of the first quarter. Carlos Siguenza converted with a goal on the man advantage to give Cornell College a 1-0 lead.

The Red Men took the lead at 2-1 with 8:17 left in the first quarter after
John Salerno and
Jared Ferrell each tallied a goal.

Dylan Harris and
Jordyn Williams each registered a goal to extend the Carthage lead to 5-1 at the 7:51 mark of the second quarter before the Rams responded.

Siguenza dished a pass to Caleb Moen, who fired a shot past Carthage goalkeeper
Ryan Smith to narrow the Rams' deficit to 5-2 with 4:42 left in the second quarter.

Carthage and Cornell traded a pair of goals to make the score 7-4 with 9:49 left in the fourth quarter.
Jared Ferrell put the icing on the cake for the Red Men with a pair of goals in the final 10 minutes to give them a 9-4 victory.

Three-of-four Cornell goals on the afternoon came with an extra man. The Red Men peppered the Rams for 40 shots while Cornell mustered 30.

Ryan Smith tallied 10 saves in a complete game effort defending the Red Men goal. Evan Kedjidjian turned away 16 Red Men shots.

Carthage will return to action on Saturday, March 19 at Milwaukee School of Engineering. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
