Men's Lacrosse Opens with a 30-2 Win over Calvin on Feb. 9

Box Score The Carthage College men's lacrosse team (1-0, 0-0 Midwest Men's Lacrosse Conference) opened its 2013 season on Saturday, Feb. 9 with a 30-2 win over Calvin College (0-1) at the Ultimate Soccer Arena in Pontiac, Mich. 

Carthage led, 3-1, after the first period and 3-2 at the start of the second period before scoring 27 unanswered goals for the final, 30-2 margin.  The Red Men set school records with 30 goals, 22 assists and 52 total points.
 
Jared Ferrell (Fr., Trabuco Canyon, Calif./El Toro) led the Red Men with five goals and two assists.  Zack Patton (Fr., O'Fallon, Mo./DeSmet Jesuit) had four goals and an assist, Mason Poage (Sr., Columbia, Mo./Hickman) four goals and an assist,  Jack Meachum (Jr., Naperville, Ill./North) three goals and two assists, Danny Morse (Jr., O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) three goals and two assists, Tanner Thomas (Fr., Parker, Colo./Regis Jesuit) three goals, Adam Sammarco (Sr., Western Springs, Ill./La Grange-Lyons Township) three goals, Chas Blake (Fr., Portland, Ore./Westview) two goals and five assists, with Peter Slefinger (Sr., Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton-Warrenville South) scoring two goals with two assists.  Hunter Douglas (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo./Cheyenne Mountain) also set a Carthage record with 16 ground balls, along with a team-high 21 face-offs. 

Carthage plays Albion College (0-0) on Sunday, Feb. 10, also the Ultimate Soccer Arena, beginning at 1 p.m., EST
