The Carthage College men's swimming team (5-3 dual-meet record), ranked 21st in the Jan. 12 CollegeSwimming.com/College Swimming Coaches Association of America NCAA Division III poll, lost to CCIW-opponent Wheaton College (Ill.), 133.50-128.50 on Saturday, Jan. 22 at Wheaton's Chrouser Fitness Center Natatorium in Wheaton, Ill.
 
Carthage's Kyle Drake (Sr., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) won both the 200 backstroke (1:59.45) and the 200 individual medley (2:03.07), while finishing third in the 200 freestyle (1:48.53). Doug Schranck (Jr., Alton, Ill./Marquette Catholic) won the 200 butterfly (2:00.47) with a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly (53.12) and a third-place finish in the 200 individual medley (2:03.87). Ryan Ortmann (Jr., Woodstock, Ill.) won the 50 freestyle (21.64) and finished second in the 100 freestyle (48.18), while  Adam Glover (Jr., Eureka, Mo.) won the 1,000 freestyle (10:18.33) with a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle (5;00.97). Bob Pellican (Sr., Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey) won the 100 backstroke (54.24). 
 
Conrad Morger (Fr., Normal, Ill./Community) was second in the 1,000 freestyle (10:18.67) and third in the 500 freestyle (5:01.00). Jake Carabelli (So., South Beloit, Ill./Rockton-Hononegah) finished third in both the 200 backstroke (2:02.00) and the 200 butterfly (2:10.15). Blake Bendix (Sr., St. Cloud, Minn./Tech) was third in the 50 freestyle (22.45), as was Chris Varner (Sr., Wildwood, Mo./Eureka) in the 100 backstroke (66.14), Kyle Rasmussen (Fr., Mount Horeb, Wis.) in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.49) and Eric Ross (Jr., West Lafayette, Ind./Harrison) in the 1,000 freestyle (10:22.50). 

The Red Men play host to Wisconsin Private College Swimming Championship on Saturday, Jan. 29 at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha, Wis., beginning at Noon.
