The Carthage College men's swimming team (3-0 dual-meet record), ranked 20th in the Nov. 10 CollegeSwimming.com/College Swimming Coaches Association of America NCAA Division III poll, defeated Illinois Wesleyan University, 177.5 to 78.5 on Saturday, Nov. 13 at Fort Natatorium in Bloomington, Ill. Three Carthage swimmers won two events each. 

Bob Pellican (Sr., Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey) won both the 100 backstroke (55.09) and the 200 backstroke (1:59.17). Kyle Rasmussen (Fr., Mount Horeb, Wis.) took first place in both the 100 breaststroke (1:04.74) and the 200 breaststroke (2:22.61), and Blake Bendix (Sr., St, Cloud, Minn./Tech) won both the 100 butterfly (54.81) and the 100 freestyle (50.23). 

The Red Men collected also collected wins from Ryan Ortmann (Jr., Woodstock, Ill.) in the 50 freestyle (22.39), Doug Schranck (Jr., Alton, Ill./Marquette Catholic) in the 200 butterfly (2:01.21), Isaac Rothenbaum (Sr., Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) in the 200 freestyle (1:51.32), Kyle Drake (Sr., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) in the 500 freestyle (4:58.34) and Adam Glover (Jr., Eureka, Mo.) in the 1,000 freestyle (10:25.55). Carthage's 200 medley relay team of Chris Varner (Sr., Wildwood, Mo./Eureka), Rothenbaum,  Bendix and Ortmann. 

The Red Men travel to Crawfordsville, Ind., on Friday-Saturday, Nov. 19-20 for the Wabash College Invitational at the Class of 1950 Natatorium (7 p.m./10:30 a.m.)
