NAPERVILLE - Kristina Manojlovic and Hailey Wierzgac of the Carthage women's volleyball team have been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Volleyball Offensive and Defensive Student-Athletes of the Week, respectively, the conference announced Monday.

Manojlovic, a senior from Skokie, Ill., led the Firebirds offense over four games and 15 sets, totaling 72 kills while averaging 4.80 kills per set. She hit .267 for the week while also tallying 10 service aces, 58 digs, and 11 total blocks. Manojlovic recorded 23 kills against Bluffton and a career-high 24 kills against Hope.

Wierzgac, a sophomore from Chicago Ridge, Ill., totaled 31 blocks over 15 sets, averaging 2.07 blocks per set to lead the Firebirds defensively. She recorded 10 blocks against Wheaton and Bluffton and added nine blocks against Earlham. Wierzgac also hit .344 for the week with 26 kills.

Carthage (11-5, 1-0 CCIW) returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 30, against Augustana College at 7 p.m. in Rock Island, Ill. The Firebirds return to Tarble Arena on Saturday, Oct. 3 against No. 3 Wis-Eau Claire at 1 p.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
