Silveira Named CCIW Student-Athlete of the Year, Four Firebirds Earn All-CCIW Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Four members of the Carthage men's tennis team were recognized in the 2026 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin All-CCIW honors, the conference announced Wednesday. The highlight of the group was Francisco Silveira, who was named the 2026 CCIW Men's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Year. Other honorees included Diego Silva, Finn Morris, and Victor Pimenta.

FRANCISCO SILVEIRA | SENIOR | NITERÓI, BRAZIL | STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR | FIRST TEAM

Silveira led the Firebirds with an overall record of 35-9, going 19-4 in singles play and a combined doubles record of 16-5 with teammates Linus Bangert, Cyriac Cayuela, Ethan Foucheaux, and Payton Nelson. Silveira went 10-0 in singles play in the CCIW and went 16-4 in the No. 1 singles position. Silveira concluded the regular season on a nine-match winning streak.

DIEGO SILVA | JUNIOR | SORRISO, BRAZIL | FIRST TEAM

Silva finished the regular season with a singles record of 9-10 and a record of 6-3 in conference play, where he concluded the conference schedule on a six-match winning streak. In doubles play, Silva and Morris combined for a record of 17-6 while posting a 6-2 record in conference play. The duo went 15-6 in the No. 1 doubles position. Silva totaled a record of 26-16 on the season.

FINN MORRIS | SOPHOMORE | BURGESS HILL, UNITED KINGDOM | SECOND TEAM

Morris posted the impressive doubles statistics listed above with Silva and combined those with a singles record of 16-4. The sophomore posted a 6-1 record in CCIW play and went 10-2 in No. 3 singles. He currently rides a four-match winning streak. On the year, Morris finished the regular season with a combined record of 31-10.

VICTOR PIMENTA | JUNIOR | RIBEIRÃO PRETO, BRAZIL | RESPECT AWARD

Pimenta has been named a recipient of the CCIW RESPECT Award. At the conclusion of every sport's season, each varsity program will recognize one student-athlete as their RESPECT Award honoree. RESPECT Award recipients have distinguished themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution, and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration, and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourage inclusiveness and a positive culture.

The Firebirds return to action on Friday, May 1 in the 2026 CCIW Men's Tennis Tournament semifinals. The team will face off against the winner of the No. 3 Augustana and No. 6 Carroll, who will play on Thursday. The semifinal match will be played at 2 p.m. in Bloomington, Ill.
