BLOOMINGTON – The Carthage women's tennis team competed in the 2026 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Tennis Tournament with an opening round match against the North Park University Vikings on Thursday afternoon. The Firebirds got off to a strong start in doubles play with a pair of wins, before earning three convincing victories in singles victories to advance to the next round.

 

In doubles play, Niki Manojlovic and Marie Weis claimed a 6-2 win in No. 2 doubles over Jassica Dudas and Emilia Sand. Jordan Miller and Bella Rizzo then claimed the team point with a No. 3 doubles win, defeating Holly Chleboun and Nicasia Murphy with  6-2 score. The Firebirds took a 1-0 lead heading into singles play. 

In singles play, Rizzo extended the Firebirds lead to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win in No. 5 singles against Chleboun. Manojlovic then scored another point with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Dudas in No. 3 singles. Valentina Huesca capped off the shutout with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Murphy in No. 6 singles as the Firebirds punched their ticket to the CCIW semifinals.


 
The Firebirds (10-9) return to action on Friday, April 24 as the team will face off against Wheaton College in the CCIW semifinals in Bloomington, Ill. Action begins at 2 p.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
