KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage women's tennis team swept Millikin, 7-0, on Saturday morning at Smeds Tennis Center. The Firebirds improve their conference record to 5-2 with one match remaining in regular season conference play.

 

In doubles play, Rya Arreazola and Greta Peterson earned a 6-0 win over Bella Griffiths and Braxtyn Madison in No. 2 doubles. Kamila Dobija and Niki Manojlovic followed with a 6-1 victory over Rachel Combs and Maria Jeres in No. 1 doubles before Valentina Huesca and Jordan Miller completed the sweep with a 6-0 win over Addi Ross and Sarah Parsons in No. 3 doubles. The Firebirds took a 1-0 lead over the Big Blue.

In singles play, Huesca opened with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Katie Kammerer in No. 6 singles. Arreazola followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Griffiths in No. 2 singles before Niki Manojlovic defeated Combs, 6-0, 6-2, in No. 1 singles to clinch the match. Miller added a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Parsons in No. 5 singles. Dobija then defeated Jeres, 6-2, 6-3, in No. 3 singles before Peterson completed the shutout with a 2-6, 6-1, 10-5 win over Madison in No. 4 singles.


 
The Firebirds (5-2) will return to Smeds Tennis Center on Sunday, Oct. 10 as the squad concludes conference play against Illinois Wesleyan at 10 a.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
