WAUKESHA – The Carthage men's tennis team concluded the regular season on Tuesday afternoon against the Carroll University Pioneers. It was another strong outing for the Firebirds as the team picked up its eighth consecutive victory and its seventh straight shutout win. The day was also highlighted by senior Luca Okino, who earned his 100th career win at Carthage during the match.

 

In doubles play, Diego Silva and Finn Morris dropped a 6-3 match in No. 1 doubles against Andrew LaBelle and Felix Persson. Okino and Victor Pimenta evened the doubles score with a 6-1 win over Ulrik Gellein and David Eman in No. 2 doubles. The Firebirds then claimed the team point with a 6-4 win in no. 3 doubles for Francisco Silveira and Ethan Foucheaux over Ryan LaBelle and Layton Carls.

In singles play, Silva earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over R. LaBelle in No. 2 singles to give the Firebirds a 2-0 lead. Linus Bangert extended the lead with a 6-0, 6-1 victory in No. 4 singles against Nate Christensen. Cyriac Cayuela then earned a 6-4, 6-1 win in No. 3 singles over Persson to claim the team victory. Silveira claimed a 6-1, 6-2 win over A. LaBelle in No. 1 singles to extend the lead to 5-0. Okino earned win No. 100 in No. 5 singles as David Eman retired from the match. Pimenta then concluded the match by defeating Carls with a pair of 6-4 victories.
