RACINE – The Carthage women's tennis team hosted the MSOE Raiders at LifeSport Athletic Club on Sunday evening. The Firebirds cruised to a shutout victory over the Raiders and celebrated seniors Marie Weis and Victoria Rizzo as part of Senior Day.

 

In doubles play, Rizzo and Bella Rizzo earned a 6-0 victory over Emily Gutknecht and Isela Sandoval Luis in No. 3 doubles. In No. 2 doubles Niki Manojlovic and Marie Weis defeated Elizabeth Burtgarbe and Autumn Thoresen with a final score of 6-1. Rya Arreazola and Greta Peterson finished the doubles sweep with a 6-1 win in No. 1 doubles over Ana Clara Kamiyama and Simona Sulimas.

In singles play, Manojlovic defeated Gutknecht in No. 3 singles with a pair of 6-0 wins. Jordan Miller then defeated Thoresen 6-0, 6-1 in No. 5 singles to give the Firebirds a 3-0 lead. Peterson secured the team win with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout over Sulias in No. 2 singles. Valentina Huesca defeated Burtgarbe in No. 5 singles with a final score of 6-1, 6-0. Weis earned a No. 6 singles win over Sandoval Luis with a pair of 6-0 victories. Arreazola concluded the match with a 6-2, 2-6, (10-6) win over Kamiyama in No. 1 singles.


 
The Firebirds (8-9) return to action on Thursday, April 23 as the team opens the 2026 CCIW tournament against North Park in Bloomington, Ill. Action begins at 2 p.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
