NAPERVILLE — Following a straight-set victory over Dominican (Ill.) on Saturday, two members of the Carthage men's volleyball program were recognized in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week awards announced Monday. Seniors Ruben Emmerich and Ryan Morey earned the conference's Hitter and Setter of the Week honors, respectively, helping lead the Firebirds to a .427 team hitting percentage in the non-conference win.

Emmerich, a middle blocker/opposite from Middleton, Wis., secured Hitter of the Week recognition after recording eight kills on 10 attempts with just one error for a .700 hitting percentage. Emmerich also contributed one service ace and three blocks, including one solo stop, finishing the three-set match with 10.5 points.

Morey was named the CCIW Setter of the Week after orchestrating the Firebirds' efficient offensive performance. The Redwood City, Calif., native totaled 37 assists across three sets, averaging 12.33 assists per set. Morey also added one kill, one service ace and one block in the victory.

Carthage plays North Central (Ill.) on Wednesday, March 18 starting at 7 p.m.
