NAPERVILLE - Finn Morris of the Carthage men's tennis team has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week, the CCIW announced Tuesday.

Morris, a sophomore from Burgess Hill, United Kingdom, went a combined 4-0 on Saturday, Jan. 31 in the Firebirds victories over Coe and Central. In the team's 4-3 win over Coe, Morris teamed up with Diego Silva to earn a 7-5 win in No. 1 doubles before earning a 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 win over Coe's Bryton Short in No. 3 singles. In Carthage's 7-0 win over Central, Morris and Silva claimed a 6-1 victory in No. 1 doubles before Morris defeated Ernest Alvarez Chedzoy with a pair of 6-0 wins in No. 1 singles.

The Firebirds (2-0) return to action on Saturday, Feb. 7 against Carleton and St. Olaf in Owatonna, Minn. Action begins at 11 a.m. Carthage men's tennis returns home on Sunday, Feb. 15 as the team hosts MSOE at the LifeSport Athletic Club in Racine, Wis. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
