WAVERLY - The Carthage College women's golf teams put together a strong showing at the Wartburg Fall Invitational this weekend, finishing fifth overall in a 21-team field at Prairie Links. The Firebirds carded rounds of 316–319—635 (+59) to finish just four strokes back of fourth-place Macalester. Lexi Manteufel took second place, scoring 144.


Manteufel led the Firebirds, carding rounds of 72 and 72 for a total score of 144. Mae Norman tied for 29th, shooting rounds of 79 and 82, for a total score of 161. Tying for 57th place, Ro Longden shot 81 and 84 for a total score of 165. Lauren Howe finished with 168 (84, 84), tying at 69th place. Rounding out the Firebirds, Madeline Midgett carded rounds of 92 and 81 for a total score of 173, tying for 90th place. 

Braelyn Davoust, McKenna Sosnowski, and Nina Mayfield hit the links individually. Davoust carded rounds of 85 and 89 for a total of 174, tying for 93rd place. Sosnowski shot 86 and 100, tying for 115th place and shooting a total of 186. Mayfield shot a total score of 173, carding rounds of 85 and 88, tying for 90th place. 



"Another productive weekend for the Firebirds," said head coach Bill Buss. "A top 5 finish in a high-quality field continues to increase the team's confidence in the ability to lower their scores. Lexi Manteufel had a great battle down the end and came up 1 shot short. Our improved depth this year is paying off with more consistent performances."
