Men's Cross Country Ranked No. 10 in USTFCCCA North Region

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Carthage men's cross country team has been ranked No. 10 in North Region for Week 2 of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the association announced Tuesday.

The Firebirds enter the North Region Top 10 for the first time this season following a second-place finish at the Wheaton (Ill.) Gil Dodds Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 20. Senior Jacob Curulewski led the Firebirds with a first-place individual finish, while Harlon Matson, Luke Davey, Chad Helmke, and Sam Cernetich rounded out the scoring five for Carthage.

The North Region saw no movement in the top five places from last week, as Wis-La Crosse leads the way while St. Olaf, Wis-Whitewater, Wis-Stevens Point, and Wis-Platteville made up the top teams for the second straight week. Wis-Eau Claire entered the rankings this week at No. 6, causing MSOE and Macalester to slide back one spot to No. 7 and No. 8 respectively. Wis-Oshkosh held place at No. 9 and the Firebirds replaced St. John's (Minn.) in the No. 10 slot.

The Firebirds will take a week off before returning to action on Friday, Oct. 3 at the Wis-Eau Claire Blugold Invite in Colfax, Wis. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
