ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — The Carthage men's cross country team placed 26th overall in the Men's Gold 8K at the NCAA Division III Interregional Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Augustana (Ill.) at the Skaukie Golf Course. The Firebirds faced one of the deepest fields of the fall, featuring multiple nationally ranked programs.
 

 
Carthage totaled 739 points to place 26th among 36 teams. No. 1 Wis–La Crosse captured the team title with 56 points, followed by No. 2 Wartburg (68), and No. 11 RPI (197). No. 13 UChicago (211) and No. 6 North Central (Ill.) (241) rounded out the top five teams.
 

 
Senior Jacob Curulewski led the Firebirds with an eighth-place finish, completing the 8,000-meter course in a personal best time of 24:31.5. Harlan Matson (98th) finished in 25:55.7. Connor Wood (184th) was the third Carthage runner to finish in 26:50.1. Luke Davey (222nd) finished in 27:22.1, and Luke Adair (227) rounded out the scoring five in 27:25.5.
