METAMORA - The Carthage College women's golf team traveled to Metamora, Illinois, to compete in the CCIW Preview hosted by Wheaton. The Firebirds placed second out of six teams, scoring a total of 327 (+43).
Lexi Manteufel and
Ro Longden led the Firebirds, tying for 7th place out of 39 golfers.
Manteufel and Longden led the Firebirds, both carding 80 (+9) and tying for seventh place. Mae Norman tied for 9th place, shooting 81 (+10). Emily Tralewski shot 86 (+15), tying for 18th place. Lauren Howe tied for 23rd place, shooting 87 (+16). Madeline Midgett rounded out the Firebirds tying for 25th place, and shooting 88 (+17).
The Firebirds had two birds compete individually. Braelyn Davoust carded 83 (+12) and took 13th place (tie). Nina Mayfield shot 92 (+21), tying in 29th place.
" We struggled right out of the gate then pressed a bit before settling in to finish more like who we have been this year, said head coach Bill Buss". It was good to see the golf course we will play conference at in a few weeks. That should help us prepare to improve in October.
