KENOSHA - The Carthage College women's golf teams showcased a solid start to the season hosting the Firebird Fall Classic. The Firebirds had two teams competing. Lexi Manteufel placed in the top 10, placing second place after two days of play. 


Manteufel led the red team, carding rounds of 77 and 72 for a total score of 149. Mae Norman followed behind with rounds of 76 and 81, finishing at 157. Lauren Howe recorded scores of 85 and 79 for a score of 164. Close behind, Ro Longden carded rounds of 85 and 82 for a total of 167. Madeline Midgett rounded out the team with scores of 91 and 79, ending with 170.

McKenna Sosnowski led the black team, carding rounds of 77 and 88 for a total score of 165. Steda Lundak recorded rounds of 88 and 83 for a total of 171. Nina Mayfield followed behind with rounds of 84 and 90, ending with 174. Emily Tralewski finished close behind with rounds of 91 and 85, ending with 176. Rounding out the Firebirds, Braelyn Davoust carded 89 and 92, ending with 181. 



"Great first test of the year", said head coach Bill Buss. "The players worked hard this summer and the results speak for themselves. Several players had personal bests this weekend and I couldn't be more proud of them. Huge shout out to Emily Tralewski and Nina Mayfield who played great in their tournament debuts. Lexi Manteufel tied for first and lost due to the tiebreaker rules. Lexi's ball-striking is the best I have seen anybody at this level. Very excited to see this team continue to push themselves to achieve even more this year."
