#3 Augustana 4, #2 Carthage 3
ROCK ISLAND – The Carthage men's tennis team faced off against the Augustana Vikings in the 2025 CCIW Men's Tennis Tournament Semifinals on Friday morning. After a strong start in doubles play, the Firebirds struggled in singles play before ultimately falling to the Vikings 4-3.

 

In doubles play, Cooper Ferruzzi and Francisco Silveira defeated Gabriel Luna and Nicolas Navarro 6-1 in #2 doubles. Cyriac Cayuella and Finn Morris then defeated Santiago Diaz and Aingeru Garcia Acebo 6-3 in #3 doubles to claim the doubles point and give the Firebirds a 1-0 lead.

In singles play, Silveira earned a 6-1, 6-2 win in #2 singles over Saman Rezaeyan to extend the Carthage lead to 2-0. Myles Krzewinski fell to Arthur Hermange in #1 singles, dropping a 6-2, 6-4 battle. Cayuela fell to Navarro in #5 singles with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) final score, tying the match at 2-2. Elios Briand defeated Diaz 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 in #3 singles to put Carthage back in fron 3-2. Ferruzzi dropped a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 battle with Tim Philip in #6 singles, tying the match once again at 3-3. The match came down to a winner-take-all battle in #4 singles. Diego Silva faced off against David Larraga, before falling 6-4, 5-7, 6-3. The Vikings took the match and advanced to the championship match on Saturday.
