INDIANAPOLIS - Six members of the Carthage women's track and field team have been selected to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, the NCAA announced Friday.
Abbey Calhoun, a senior from Grayslake, Ill., will compete in the triple jump. This will be Calhoun's second appearance at the National level. Calhoun enters the national stage after placing first three times this outdoor season in the triple jump. Calhoun recently broke the outdoor triple jump school record (12.02m), which was previously 11.92 meters, that Calhoun held and set last year at the 2024 Wisconsin Private College Championships. Calhoun's mark of 12.02 meters ranks 16th in the NCAA Division III heading into the championships next week.
Alexis Mattox, a graduate student from Kenosha, Wis., will compete in the hammer throw. This will be Mattox's fifth appearance at the National level. Mattox enters the national stage after placing first in the hammer throw twice this outdoor season and taking second at the CCIW Outdoor Championships. Mattox's best mark of 56.97 meters, thrown at the Midwest Twilight Final Qualifier, May 14-15, ranks fifth in the NCAA Division III heading into the championships next week.Â
Madison Payne, a junior from Mount Prospect, Ill., will compete in the shot put. This will be Payne's second appearance at the National level. Payne entered the national stage in first place two times this outdoor season in the shot put. Payne's best mark of 13.98 meters was thrown at the Augustana Penultimate Qualifier on May 9. This mark ranks Payne at 17th in the NCAA Division III heading into the championships next week.Â
Nicole Tarpley, a graduate student from Bloomingdale, Ill., will compete in the discus and hammer throw. This will be Tarpley's fourth appearance at the National level. Tarpley enters the national stage after placing first in both the discus and hammer throw at the Wheaton Invitational on April 12. Additionally, Tarpley's best marks in the discus (45.61m) and hammer throw (53.48m) rank 17th and 16th in the NCAA Division III heading into the championships next week. Â
Jackie Tuzil, a junior from Schaumburg, Ill., will compete in the discus throw. This will be Tuzil's first appearance at the National level. Tuzil enters the national stage after placing first in the discus throw at the Wheaton 'Don Church' Twilight on April 17. Additionally, Tuzil's best mark of 47.52 meters, which was thrown this past meet at Augustana, ranks sixth in the NCAA Division III heading into the championships next week. Â
Mikayla Wright, a senior from Galesville, Wis., will compete in the shot put. This will be Wright's second appearance at the national level. Wright enters the national stage after placing first in the shot put at the Wisconsin Private College Championships. Additionally, Wright's best mark of 13.85 meters, which Wright threw at the Outdoor CCIW Championship on May 2-3. This mark ranks Wright 19th in the shot put in the NCAA Division III heading into the championships next week.Â
The Firebirds will compete at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in Geneva, Ohio. Tuzil and Tarpley will compete in the discus throw on Thursday, May 22, at 1 p.m. ET. On Friday, May 23, Payne and Wright will compete in the shot put at 2 p.m. ET. Tarpley and Mattox will compete at 11 a.m. ET on Saturday, May 24, and Calhoun will follow at 1:45 p.m. ET.
